Understanding Build Your Store as a standalone platform

The Build Your Store platform operates as an independent platform with its own dashboard, branding, and user flow. While the platform integrates with Shopify for store hosting and requires AutoDS for product sourcing, Build Your Store functions separately from both services.

This means you work with three separate platforms:

Build Your Store: Handles your store creation process, plan selection, and initial setup flow.
Shopify: Manages your store hosting, billing, subscriptions, and technical infrastructure for your live store.
AutoDS: Provides product sourcing, order fulfillment automation, and inventory management.

Each platform requires its own account and subscription, and each has its own support team:

Common misunderstandings about Build Your Store

These are common misconceptions you may have about the Build Your Store platform. Understanding them helps you set realistic expectations and avoid confusion during your store setup.

"Why did I receive a new email address?"	This usually happens when you accidentally select the AutoDS AI store builder instead of Build Your Store during setup. The AutoDS flow creates a separate email and stores it automatically. Build Your Store uses the email address you provide during registration and does not create new email addresses for you.
"I thought Build Your Store was part of Shopify or AutoDS"	Build Your Store is a standalone platform with its own dashboard and branding. While Build Your Store integrates with Shopify for store hosting and requires AutoDS for product sourcing, it operates independently from both platforms. Build Your Store support does not handle Shopify or AutoDS issues directly.

Resetting or rebuilding your Build Your Store

If you want to completely reset your Build Your Store and start fresh with a new theme or design, you can rebuild your store pages. This process lets you delete your current online store pages and apply new themes to give your store a different look and structure.

To reset and rebuild your Build Your Store:

Access your Shopify admin panel.
Navigate to the Online Store section in the left menu.
Click on Themes to view your current theme and available options.
To start fresh, you can either:
- Add a new theme: Click "Add theme" to browse and install a different pre-built theme.
- Remove current pages: Go to Pages under Online Store and delete existing pages you want to recreate.
Customize your new theme by clicking Customize next to the theme you want to edit.
Rebuild your store pages with your desired layout, content, and design elements.

Important: This reset/rebuild option is only available for stores that were originally created using Build Your Store (BYS). You cannot use this process to redesign a Shopify store that was created outside of the BYS platform or through other methods.

Note: Before resetting your BYS store, consider backing up any important content or settings you may want to reference later. Deleting pages and changing themes will remove your current store structure.

Account deletion and data removal

Important: Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Make sure you've backed up any important information before proceeding.

Deleting your Build Your Store account

To delete your Build Your Store account and data:

Submit a deletion request: Contact Build Your Store support or use the Account Settings in the app to request account deletion.
Confirm your intent: You'll need to confirm that you want to delete all your data permanently.
Account deactivation: Once processed, all your information is permanently removed from Build Your Store systems, and your account is deactivated.
No future charges: After deletion, Build Your Store will not charge you any future fees.

Important: If your BYS store uses Shopify, you must cancel your Shopify subscription directly from your Shopify admin panel. Build Your Store cannot manage or cancel Shopify subscriptions on your behalf. Deleting your Build Your Store account does not automatically cancel your Shopify subscription.

Data removal is permanent: Both AutoDS and Build Your Store permanently delete all data associated with your account. This action cannot be undone. Ensure you have backed up any important information before making the deletion request.
Subscription management: For Build Your Store users with Shopify stores, subscriptions are billed and managed directly in Shopify. Deleting your Build Your Store account will not automatically cancel your Shopify subscription. You must cancel this separately in your Shopify admin.
Future account creation: If you delete your AutoDS account, but decide to return later, you can re-register using the same email address and will receive a new trial period upon signing up.

Log in using the credentials you created during your domain registration through Build Your Store (note: these are different from your Build Your Store login credentials).
If you've lost your credentials, use the "Forgot Password" option on the login page to recover access.

Managing DNS settings:

Once logged in, navigate to the DNS Settings section where you can view and update your domain records.

Connecting your domain to Shopify:

To connect your domain to your Shopify store, you need to update the following DNS records:

After making these changes, save your settings. DNS propagation can take up to 48 hours to complete.

If you started with the Free Beginner Store and want professional design elements later, you have two options: hire designers and copywriters independently to add custom banners, proven copywriting, and conversion-optimized design to your existing store, or create a new store through Build Your Store, selecting the Pro plan option to get all professional features included from the start.

Can I customize my store after Build Your Store creates it?

Yes, you can fully customize your store after Build Your Store creates it. After BuildYourStore completes the initial setup, you have full control to customize every aspect of your store through your Shopify account. You can edit colors, layouts, fonts, banners, product descriptions, pages, and any other design elements to match your unique brand vision. BuildYourStore provides the professional foundation, while you personalize it to stand out from competitors.

How long does the store creation process take with Build Your Store?

The BuildYourStore store creation process takes only a few minutes for the AI-powered store creation itself. However, the complete setup process depends on how quickly you complete each step, including creating your Shopify account, activating your subscription, setting up your domain, and connecting your AutoDS account. The BuildYourStore platform creates your store structure automatically within minutes, but completing all external integrations typically takes 15-30 minutes, depending on your familiarity with the platforms.

Can I use Build Your Store with an existing Shopify store?

The Build Your Store platform is designed to work only with brand-new Shopify stores created through our setup flow. To ensure everything connects properly (theme, apps, and setup steps), your store must be registered from scratch using the BuildYourStore process.

If you already have an existing Shopify store, our app won’t be able to integrate with it or apply the automatic setup. In this case, you would need to create a new Shopify store and follow the BuildYourStore steps from the beginning to experience the full features and benefits.

How do refunds work with Build Your Store?

BuildYourStore plans are generally non-refundable, as explained in our Terms of Service. However, in rare cases (such as accidental plan selection or clear technical issues), our team may review the situation and, as a gesture of goodwill, approve an exception.

If you believe you were charged under the wrong conditions, send us your order details, and we’ll be happy to review your case.

What happens to my store if I cancel or receive a refund from Build Your Store?

If our team approves a refund or cancellation, we will request that you remove the BuildYourStore theme from your Shopify store, as it will no longer be supported under your account.

Your Shopify account will remain active as normal, and you will still have full access to your store through Shopify. From there, you can install and use any other theme you see fit from the Shopify theme library or other providers.

Any future billing, domains, or apps connected to your store will continue to be managed directly through those providers (for example, Shopify, your domain provider, or AutoDS).
